HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Hollywood Police are investigating a stabbing – surrounded by bizarre circumstances – at a Hollywood apartment on Saturday.

Authorities said a man walked into an open apartment, located at the Lomar Apartment complex in the 500 block of South Crescent Drive, and began stabbing a woman inside.

That's when a neighbor heard the screaming and ran inside to help.  The neighbor ,who is 19, did not want to give his name, but spoke to CBS4's Maggie Newland about what happened.

"I heard an argument and I just saw that my neighbor was being attacked. I heard her screaming. I went to go look i saw that he was stabbing her," he said.

He did not recognize the attacker, but police said the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute.

"I came back got one of those pipes right there. I chased him out," said the good Samaritan, adding, "Then my sister pulled me away from the scene that's when he escaped. I chased him."

Richard Jacob, another neighbor, said, "They were actually heroes. They saved the lady's life because the guy would've kept stabbing her. I saw them take her out and she was not moving. I mean she was half naked, not moving."

Hollywood Fire Rescue rushed the woman to Memorial Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said the assailant took off on a bike and later got hit by a car.

"I wanted to tackle him off the bike, but right when he got close he looked back he hit a car. It was like fate," said the good Samaritan.

Police are calling the man on the bike a suspect. He was also taken to the hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.
