MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The new film "Insurgent" picks up where "Divergent" left off, a film that will surely have audiences on the edge of their seats with the nonstop action.

"I was shocked to see it myself. When you are reading the script, it's so different then after all the special effects are added and everything. It's crazy," Zoë Kravitz explained.

Kravitz, who is both an actress and a musician, spent her teen years living in Miami. She is the only child of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet.

CBS4's Lisa Petrillo spoke with Kravitz. She asked her if her parents raised her where she felt free to express herself.

"Yes," she said, "They were always really encouraging me to express myself so I think it's important for all parents to encourage kids to do that. It's hard growing up. There is so much pressure to be like everyone else. I was lucky to have parents that encouraged me to be myself."

Now Kravitz is a model gracing the cover of Ocean Drive Magazine.

"It's very cool. I used to live here and that is the magazine I read. It's kind of a dream come true and I was shocked when I really saw I'm on the cover," Kravitz told Petrillo.

"Insurgent" opens in theatres Friday.
