MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Another day of technical glitches as some students gave Florida's new standardized test another shot Thursday morning.

"Massive, catastrophic fail," that's the way Miami-Dade County's School's Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is describing the restart of computerized retesting Thursday.

Students in Miami-Dade and other major counties arrived at school to resume new standardized testing Thursday.

"I really don't have a positive opinion for standardized tests," said Elizabeth Acosta, a 9th grader at Coral Reef High School.

"Students are attempting to log on to the computer-based assessment system and they are being prevented of doing so, they are waiting 30 to 40 minutes," Carvalho said Thursday.

The problems persist after Education Commissioner Pam Stewart told lawmakers Wednesday the glitches had been fixed.

"This morning as early as 7:45 when student's started logging on were experiencing something new now when they were trying to log on and it was a white screen," said Miami-Dade Academics Chief Marie Izquierdo.

Other counties, including Broward, reported similar problems but Broward said they appeared to be easing by late morning.

Carvalho, on his way to Tallahassee Thursday morning, will tell state lawmakers they need to reconsider the test which is intended to grade students, teachers and schools.

"This year's results could very well be considered compromised so that needs to take place, we need to respect teacher's and student's before moving forward," Carvalho said.
