FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- The front window of the MVP Tax Service was boarded up after a hot truck slammed through the entrance Wednesday night.

Now, the accused driver, Jerremiah Johnson, was in front of a judge who called him dangerous.

"Based on the level of violence the court's concerned for the safety of the community," said Broward Magistrate Judge John Hurley.

The guys who were inside are concerned about safety too.

"We heard a big loud noise like, boom, boom, boom," called Guerry Marcellus. "We thought it was somebody trying to shoot at us an all of a sudden, everybody's on the floor."

Marcellus was in there, along with Ernst Doclus and his little boy Nathan, who's just three years old.

"It stop here," Doclus said pointing close to his desk. "Few feet, few feet."

When the truck crashed into the business, Doclus grabbed his son and dove under the desk. That's when they said Johnson and his accused accomplice Tarvale Ware took off running but they're weren't gone for long. Marcellus said one of them came back for the stolen truck.

"He was trying to back up the vehicle,' Marcellus said, "but for some reason he stepped on the gas pedal. Instead of reversing, he went forward and tried to hit us."

He took off again. The judge said his crime spree continued, that he ran from one crime to another.

"Then ran from the business to get away and mug someone on the way down the street for their lap top computer, that's what's alleged," Judge Hurley read from the police report. "They said you were trying to get away, you allegedly were trying to remove your clothing to evade arrest."

Despite their efforts, both were caught by BSO.

Back at the tax office, Marcellus and Doclus said they're feeling pretty lucky they were only hit by flying splinters and not seriously hurt.

"Thank God we're still alive," he said, "The wood hit us, but not the baby."

Both suspects remain in the Broward County Jail.
