Al Golden Talks Potential Changes, 2015 Recruiting Class, And Late Additions

Interviews-wqam

Miami Hurricanes coach Al Golden joined The Joe Rose Show on the morning after National Signing Day to recap his recruiting class and shed some light on the program moving forward.

"Oh sure I don't think there's any question a better record is better for recruiting," Golden said when asked if the team's 6-7 record hindered some of their recruiting efforts. "There's no question about that."

"If you have to say is it a plus or a minus it's definitely not a plus."

The Canes lost four games in a row to finish the 2014 season. Is coach ready to make any changes after evaluating everything?

"You're going to see a lot of new looks, no question about it," Golden said. "And I have, I've evaluated everything.

"From my standpoint, as soon as we landed I evaluated a lot of that. I think Jason Garrett and the Cowboys organization -- had a chance to spend a couple days there -- kind of a retreat if you will, before we went back on the road and just gather a lot of thoughts, look at everything, and it's not just the coaches it's everything we're doing."

Often times there are some late additions in recruiting after National Signing Day. Are the Canes in play for some of those this year?

"Sure, I was just on the phone," Golden said. "I think it's constantly in flux.

"Just communicating with a lot of the 16's, you know the 16 group is a very strong group, a very communicative group, very passionate, and so we're excited about that group. We've added some good guys late."

Miami's 2015 recruiting class ranking ranged from 23rd to 26th across three of the main recruiting services in ESPN, Rivals, and 247 Sports.
