LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBSMiami) – Many students walking to Boyd Anderson High School Wednesday are carrying extra concern after learning a classmate was sexually battered by a stranger.

Victoria Roberts, a tenth grader, told CBS4 Wednesday morning that she feels like she's not safe.

Broward Sheriff's Office released the sketch of man Tuesday who they said engaged a 16-year-old in conversation, drove her to an unknown location, and sexually battered her.

The incident happened on January 22nd near the high school around 7:40 a.m.—just before the bell rang.

"The Broward Sheriff's Office Special Victim's Unit detectives are actively searching for this suspect," said BSO Spokesperson Gina Carter. "We don't know if this is an isolated incident with this suspect or if he has committed similar crimes like this before."

Students, like Malik Fowler, are on edge.

"It's sad, disgusting and just devastating," Fowler said. "Parents send their students to school to learn, not to get hurt."

The man is described as approximately 5'10" tall with a medium complexion. Police say he has a Jamaican accent, full beard and was partially bald.

He was said to be driving a light mint green hybrid four-door car with lightly-tinted windows and gray interior.

Students told CBS4 they have been warned by their parents and teachers about stranger danger—and have taken extra precautions to stay safe.

"Gotta be careful, don't talk to strangers, be aware," said Roberts. "When you are walking don't wear headphones and stuff."

Fowler added that students should be walking at least with a group of two or three. Students said they are weary of a man with sick intentions was lurking near their school.

"You got all these kids here and then you pull up on somebody that's walking to school trying to get their education, no words to really put that into context."
