Teen Arrested For Impersonating Deputy In Full Uniform

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A 15-year-old in Palm Beach County is in trouble with the law after police pulled him over for failing to stop at a stop sign, and then noticed he was dressed in a fake police uniform.

The driver, whose identity is being withheld because of his age, was reportedly wearing a faux Palm Beach County Sheriff Deputy's uniform.

A police spokesperson said the teen also had on a law enforcement utility belt and black t-shirt with PBSO on it. He even had a badge with the sheriff department's official emblem.

The teen told investigators he got the uniform from a friend.

He was immediately taken to the juvenile assessment center in West Palm Beach.

Riviera Beach Police spokesperson Rose Anne Brown said the teen had what appeared to be a gun on him, but it was confirmed Wednesday morning that the gun was fake.

The police department said that the teen will face charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and will be cited for the traffic violations for not stopping at a stop sign and driving without a valid permit or license.

Prosecutors will have 21 days to decide whether to charge him as an adult.

And a little over a week ago, another teen in Riviera Beach was arrested for impersonating a doctor.
