Police: Woman Drowns Puppy In Airport Bathroom In Order To Board Plane

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (CBS Miami) – A Florida woman has been arrested on animal abuse charges after she allegedly drowned a puppy in the bathroom in order to board a plane at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport.

Grand Island police say 56-year-old Cynthia V. Anderson of Edgewater tried to board a plane but was denied because she had three young puppies. Anderson was traveling with two other puppies, but they were slightly older and had proper kennels in order to board the flight.

Anderson's parents came and took two puppies so she tried again to board a flight the next day, according to police. She still tried to conceal the puppy in a carry-on luggage.

Police say witnesses saw Anderson enter a bathroom with the puppy and was seen leaving without it. Another passenger found a dead puppy in the toilet.

"The cause of death was determined to be drowning," Grand Island police Sgt. Stan Steel told The Independent.

Anderson was booked into the Hall County Jail.
