MIAMI(CBSMiami) - A grieving mother and widow shed tears and pleaded for the public's help Friday after their 23-year-old loved one was shot and killed while standing on a street corner Tuesday night in Liberty City.

"My son was a loving son. He didn't bother anybody. Everybody loved him and had the most respect for him. He didn't deserve to be shot down like that," said Kathy Corneal, whose son Cassiaus Cadet-Stuckey was gunned down outside an apartment while standing near an apartment around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Corneal told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, "He was my baby. He was everything to me. He was my favorite and I miss him. I just lost my mind when I heard about it. I had to get over there and when I did he was gone. I have no idea why someone would do something like that. He didn't have any enemies. Everybody loved him."

"You don't have to be afraid to come forward," she said. "Consider this. This could be you sitting here like I am. They need to do something and say something. Please, please do this for me. Please come forward and help police and call detectives."

Cadet-Stuckey's widow, Latasha Darling Stuckey, told D'Oench during a family appeal at Miami Police headquarters, "Anybody with information please come forward. We need your help. He was a good person. He didn't mess with anybody. Please call the detectives. Please help us out. He meant the world to me. We were going to start a family and everything. He was the love of my life and they took everything from me."

Cadet-Stuckey's first cousin, Charlotte Jordan, said, "I would like to see people come forward because my family is suffering and they are going through a lot of pain right now."

Police said two women were also grazed by bullets and appeared to be innocent bystanders. Police identified them as 16-year-old Tanisha Rolack, who was wounded in the right foot and left side, and Mary Smith, 25, who was grazed in the right thigh.

The lead detective in the case, John Rusinque, said there was no description to release of the shooters and it is not known who was being targeted and what the motive was. He said it was also not known if this incident was connected to the shooting of two other men within minutes of each around 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

One unidentified man lost his life when he was shot and killed at N.W. 53rd St. and N.W. 18th Ave. Neighbors said the victim was chased in to an alleyway.

Not far away, on N.W. 11th Ave. at N.W. 64th St., 23-year-old Joshua Cunningham was shot twice near his family's home. His mother told D'Oench that he had been shot a number of times and was still recovering at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Cadet-Stuckey was shot by an apartment that was riddled with more than two dozen bullets. It happened at 1329 N.W. 62nd Lane inside the Liberty City complex known as the Pork and Beans.

Police said there is white, four-door Chrysler with clear windows that may have been involved in that shooting. It was last seen leaving the area after the shooting, northbound on N.W. 13th Ave. towards N.W. 65th St, where it turned eastbound on N.W. 65th St. and then left the area.

Anyone with information should call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
