CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The Junior Orange Bowl parade is coming back for the 66th time, as the festivities will make their way down streets of downtown Coral Gables this Sunday.

Traditionally the event is held around New Year's, but was moved to the Thanksgiving weekend for the second year in a row to allow greater participation from local schools and youth groups. This is also the second year that the parade is being held at night instead of during the day.

CBS4's news partner the Miami Herald reports this year's theme is Route 66.

The parade's chairman Sam Burritt said the theme is meant to reflect wholesome small-town-America.

The event, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m., is free to the public, but grandstand seats and VIP ticket packages are available starting at $10. To purchase tickets, call the Junior Orange Bowl office at 305-662-1210.
