Man Dead, Hollywood Officer Injured In Altercation

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) -- A police officer was rushed to the hospital Monday after an altercation that left a man dead.
Authorities said two officers were responding to a call of a man causing a disturbance - walking around, acting suspiciously - along the 1800 block of Jackson Street at around 2:40 p.m.
The man reportedly got into an altercation with two Hollywood police officers and at least one officer deployed a taser on the man. When the man arrived at the hospital doctors pronounced him dead.
One of the officers was also taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police have not released the name of the man who died or any details about him other than the fact that he is white.
Internal affairs detectives from Hollywood are on the scene trying to figure out what happened.
