Gubernatorial Candidates Kick Off Early Voting Weekend

MIAMI (CBSMiami) --  Former Governor and Gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist rallied with voters on Saturday to kick off the first weekend of early voting.

The tour kicked off at 9:00 a.m. at a rally in Miami Beach then headed North to a rally at North Miami Regional Library locate at 835 NE 132nd Street North.

Crist was also scheduled to attend more rallies in Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Jacksonville.

The day will conclude with an early vote rally in Orlando.

Crist sat down with CBS4's Jim DeFede and spoke about  a variety of topics including Everglades restoration, job creation, and offshore oil drilling. The interview will air on Facing South Florida, scheduled to be aired Sunday morning October 26th.

Crist's opponent Florida Governor Rick Scott is scheduled to be in parts of central Florida on Saturday.

Scott continued his early vote bus tour in Jacksonville, Orlando and Lakeland.

The governor's tour kicked off with a visit to a rally at Jacksonville's Whiteway Delicatessen located at 1237 King Street.

His day wraps up at Fun Bike Center Motorsports in Lakeland at 2:30 p.m.

Both tours come at a time where polls show both candidates are deadlocked. Meantime, they have called on big names to support them this weekend in including former President Bill Clinton and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
