Guests At Clooney Wedding Given 'Burner' Phones

MIAMI (CBSMiami)-- To keep wedding photos from hitting social media, one celebrity gave his guests temporary phones called "burner" phones.

George Clooney had his guests sign non-disclosure agreements and handed out burner phones.

Hollywood's leading man made it official with a world-renowned legal lady Amal Alamuddin, but the newlyweds went to great lengths to keep their wedding day private from the public.

Clooney and his new wife reportedly asked guests not to share any photos of the big day.

To the point where guests were asked to leave their cell phones and cameras at home, and instead, were given other phones.

A burner phone has a single purpose and is usually tossed after used.

Former FBI agent Rick Smith, now a private investigator in San Francisco said that with technology and high profile hackers, this could be the celebrity wedding of the future.

"I think in this situation, he's done something that maybe will be followed in the future by other people that want to protect their identity and secrecy," said Smith. "I guess it depends on how much privacy you want and how much money you have."

The smart phones given to Clooney's wedding guests required access codes. A document reportedly sent with the phones read,"The phones you've been given have a code. That is your ticket to everything. We will be taking lots of pictures but we have to work very hard to keep our pictures, our pictures."

If photos were shared from the big event, Clooney's people would know where it came from.

"You can't trust everybody. You can't trust anybody for that matter but he had enough of these stories about how you can't have something like this in secret and he made sure he did the right thing to ensure no one would find out about it," said Smith.

Clooney told guests they were given the phones because of the recent hacking that happened with celebrity personal photos, but he also has a magazine deal to publish exclusive photos of their wedding for big money donated to a charity of Clooney's choice.
