MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Women wanting to get a celebrity figure but trying to avoid going under the knife are opting for something else that they claim does not “waist” their time.
Dozens of women have claimed they achieved smaller waists not from surgery but from waist trainers. It’s something like a corset, but not the ones you’re thinking of. These are 21st century versions made with latex. And the woman who calls herself “the waist lady”, Premadonna is bringing them back in style thanks to some celebrity endorsements.
“Khloe reached out to me because she saw my shaper and she wanted to try it,” said Premadonna.

Khloe Kardashian posted a photo to her Instagram page a few weeks ago of one of Premadonna’s waist trainers.
Premadonna said her trainers will help you lose weight and drop inches while maintaining that hour-glass shape like Khloe.
“The latex makes you perspire a lot. You wear it and it’s like you’re exercising in this thing,” said Premadonna. “The waist is going to go like poof! Like magic.”
The smaller look is what Premadonna’s customers desire.
“I believe women are switching over to waist trainers because it was the best hidden secret,” said Premadonna.
It’s not a secret any more, not after actress Jessica Alba, who had just given birth to her son, was quoted in a Net-A-Porter.
“I wore a double corset day and night for three months. It was brutal. It’s not for everyone,” said Alba.
Since then the demand for waist trainers has grown, but not without some backlash.
“When celebrities come back from pregnancy like Jessica Alba and they lose the weight quickly, people want to latch on to that,” Dr. Jocelyn Lebow from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine said.
What about the physical effects? According to Dr. Enrique Ginzburg from the UM Miller School of Medicine, these waist trainers are suppressing your appetite.
“It basically just squeezes you down so you can’t eat as much as you use to,” said Ginzburg. “Anything that is constricting you in that fashion, to that extent, can’t be healthy for you.”
Premadonna says you shouldn’t be experiencing any discomfort to see results.
“People think you have to go a size smaller to achieve results, no you don’t. The shaper is going to do what the shaper is going to do.”
What it appears to be doing is shrinking women’s waists
Dr. Ginzburg also adds these waist trainers are squeezing down on your abdominal organs basically there’s less space for your diaphram to come down so it can affect your breathing as well.
You should consult with your doctor before using one of the waist trainers.
