TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Qualifying gets underway Monday for candidates who want to run in Florida’s 2014 elections.

Candidates seeking statewide and local offices can officially qualify for the ballot starting at noon. Qualifying closes at noon on Friday.

Judicial candidates and candidates for U.S. Congress have already qualified.

Incumbent Gov. Rick Scott is expected to officially qualify for re-election sometime this week. Nan Rich, a former state senator and Democrat challenging Scott, plans to qualify on Tuesday. Former Gov. Charlie Crist is also expected to qualify.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam are also expected to seek re-election.

Some lucky candidates will be elected without opposition as of noon Friday.

Others’ fate will be decided by voters in the Aug. 26 primary or the Nov. 4 general election.
