Coral Gables Festival Organizer Arrested

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- A prominent businessman and festival organizer is behind bars, accused of pushing his elderly mother during an argument, rendering her unconscious.

According to our news partners the Miami Herald, the incident happened on May 30th but he turned himself in to Coral Gables Police on Friday, June 6th.

Robert Burr, 57, is charged with aggravated battery on someone over 65.

The incident took place at a home owned by Burr at 314 Romano Avenue, according to the paper.

Just before 3:30 p.m., Burr tried to intervene in a fight between his mother and his wife.

Burr ended up pushing his mother with both hands on her shoulders causing her to fall back and hit her head on the wooden floor rendering her unconscious, according to his arrest report.

Burr called the incident unfortunate, according to the paper. He is known in the community for creating the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival  as well as the yearly tour called Rob's Redland Riot Road Rally in South Miami-Dade.
