Crack Quarrel Between Neighbors Ends With Machete Attack

KEY LARGO (CBSMiami) --  An alleged dispute, between neighbors, over crack ended with one of the neighbors allegedly swinging his machete.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies said a couple, who was smoking crack with their neighbor called deputies Wednesday night saying their neighbor, Antonio Motes-Diaz,53, started swinging a machete at them during a dispute.

When deputies arrived at Point Pleasant Drive in Key Largo, just after 11:00 p.m., they found the couple who later allegedly admitted to deputies they had been drinking beer and smoking crack cocaine with Motes before the dispute.

But Motes allegedly told deputies it was all to "defend himself" because the couple allegedly became upset when Motes ran out of crack cocaine.

He said the woman spat at him  and the man, identified as Christopher Stevens, 26, attacked him which is when Mote went into his apartment and got the machete.

Motes was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.

Stevens was arrested for possession of Alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, which he did not have a prescription for.
