Canes Fans Dunk A Gator At Canes Spring Football Game

MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- Have you ever wondered what would happen if you sent a Florida Gator fan to the University of Miami Spring Football Game? This year it happened as WQAM 560's Zach Krantz volunteered to enter the dunk tank, and offered Canes fans a chance to soak a Gator.

"I told them that I was going to robe up in a Gator flag today and let the Canes fans take their frustration out on me," Krantz explained. "The game plan for me is that I don't think anyone can hit the arrow. I don't think anyone can hit it so I am not even worried."

Krantz was proven wrong, very wrong as Canes fans of all ages took a chance to make this Gator swim.

Many fans successfully threw the ball at the target, but there were a few who ran up and hit the target with their hand.

"There were a lot of cheaters here today that ran up and knocked me in. I figured that would happen when I started to do the Gator chomp," said Krantz. "Listen, if you couldn't hit the target and had to cheat to knock me in I am fine with that because I probably would have done the exact same thing."

Krantz spent more than 45 minutes in the shiny blue dunk tank.

Known to local sports radio listeners as a big Gator fan, Krantz talked trash and did an occasional Gator chomp to get the crowd amped up. In the end, the Canes fans came out on top as Krantz took the plunge 15-20 times.

"Overall, it was exactly what I expected, I had a good time. The Canes Spring Game and all the festivities here have been great and what better chance do you have to dunk a Gator, even though half of you couldn't do it. Good try!," said Krantz. "Maybe next year I will be back, probably not but it is good to say now and be nice."

Krantz can be heard on "The Marc Hochman Show with Zack Krantz" which airs from 3-7pm Monday through Friday on WQAM 560.
