S.Fla. Student Wins Seven Mile Bridge Race

MARATHON (CBSMiami/AP) — A South Florida college student took home the prize for the men's race on the Florida Keys' Seven Mile Bridge run on Saturday.

Josh Peterson of Boca Raton, Fla., ran 39 minutes and 44 seconds Saturday, the best time among the race's 1,500 participants.

The 21-year-old Florida Atlantic University student's track coach Mike Stone was five seconds behind for second place. Martin Sykut of Marathon, finished third in the men's division. The 51-year-old had a time of 40:46.

Fort Lauderdale resident Laura DiBella completed the course in 43 minutes and 22 seconds to win the women's class. The 35-year-old DiBella was followed by 38-year-old Helena Bursa of Big Pine Key and 37-year-old Bethany Tietz with times of 44:58 and 47:47 respectively.
