Man Rescued From Miami Scooter Store Fire

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – For the second time in a year, Miami firefighters were called to put out a fire at scooter store.

Miami Fire Rescue said they received a call about 8:30 p.m. Monday about flames coming from Astro Choppers and Scooter Repair Shop at 633 NE 79th Street.

When firefighters arrived they found a canopy which covered workshop area engulfed in flames and a man screaming for help inside the property.

Using bolt cutters, firefighters were able to rescue the trapped man who said he noticed the fire and tried to put it out by climbing the fence and grabbing a water hose.

The fire was quickly knocked down but not before it caused some considerable exterior damage to the Magic Car Care Center business located next door.

According to the owner, he closed up around 6:30pm. The shop's surveillance cameras were not positioned to capture the area where the fire may have started.

About a year ago, there was an arson fire at this same location that was captured on surveillance video.

Fire Investigators will review the previous fire incident to determine if there is any comparison.
