Neighbors Remember 19-Year-Old Skateboarder Fatally Struck By Car

NORTH MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – Dozens of neighbors stopped by the spot where a 19-year-old woman was fatally hit by a car Sunday while riding her skateboard.

Police identified the victim as Jacqueline Postrel-Jambor.

Neighbors, on Monday night, stopped by the spot where the victim died to leave candles, balloons and flowers.

Pamela Campbell said what happened to Jambor could have happened to her own child who is a skateboarder.

"I heard she was going to college. Going to get married now its all gone," said Campbell.

Campbell and others in the neighborhood said there is far too much speeding and police should increase enforcement. Others suggest speed bumps be installed to slow drivers down. .

According to North Miami Beach Police, it all happened on the intersection of Northeast 23rd Avenue and Northeast 137th Street.

Police said Postrel-Jambor was traveling northbound along Northeast 23rd Avenue on a skateboard when she was hit by a white Ford sedan, traveling Eastbound on Northeast 137 Street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved is fully cooperating with police.
