Panther Killed In South Florida

NAPLES (CBSMiami/AP) – The body of a 4-year-old Florida Panther has been found dead in Broward County.

The remains of an endangered male panther, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, were collected Monday on the Everglades and Francis Taylor Wildlife Management Area.

The collared male's body will be sent to the FWC Gainesville lab for necropsy, which will determine a cause of death.

This is the seventh panther death of 2014.

Florida panthers once roamed the entire southeastern U.S., but only around 160 remain in the wild.
