Rifle Found In SUV At Miramar High School

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Miami Gardens teen has learned the hard way that reading, 'riting and real guns at school don't mix.

Anthony Barrow, 19, was arrested in Miramar after police reportedly found a rifle in an SUV he was driving which was parked in a school lot.

On Monday, police received a call from Miramar High around 2 p.m. about a student who may have had a weapon on campus.

When the school's security specialist searched Barrow's Ford Expedition, in the presence of the school's principal and a Miramar police officer, he found an AR15 rifle on the floor board of the back seat, according to the arrest form. He also reportedly found two fully loaded (60 rounds) magazines.

Barrow was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a weapon within 1,000 feet of a school. Bond was set at one thousand dollars.
