Trial Date Set For Bieber's Miami Beach DUI Case

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A trial date has been set for pop singer turned bad boy Justin Bieber for his Miami Beach DUI case.

At a status hearing Tuesday morning, his trial date was scheduled to begin May 5th. He was not in court for the status hearing.

Miami Beach police arrested Bieber on Jan. 23rd after what they said was an illegal street drag race involving exotic cars.

Breath tests showed that his blood-alcohol content was below the 0.02 level considered intoxicated for underage drivers, but a urine test found the presence of marijuana and the antidepressant Xanax.

He was charged with resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license. Bieber has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The second driver, Khalil Amir Sharieff, a singer with Def Jam Records, was also arrested.

Police have since released hours of video of Bieber inside the police station and photos of Bieber in custody.

Bieber's attorney Roy Black said at Tuesday's hearing that he has filed some motions to depose witnesses in the case and so far, there's no plea deal.
