DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – United Way of Broward County and Publix are set to make a major delivery to elementary schools Saturday.

The two organizations will give 135 schools more than $100 thousand worth of supplies through the “Tools for Schools” program.

The supplies include more than 24,000 notebooks, 20,000 crayons, 30,000 pencils, 17,000 folders, 15,000 pens, glue, scissors, markers, highlighters and colored pencils.

United Way leaders said the middle of the school year is a time when schools need more supplies because they have dwindled and fewer people are making donations.
