Murder Charge Likely Against Man Accused In Motel Stabbing

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Prosecutors are expected to file a murder charge against a man who reportedly stabbed another man multiple times after he found his wife in the man's motel room.

It began on January 21st, when Ricardo Ramirez, 32, confronted Christopher Nardi, 33, at the Sky Motel at 1531 West State Road 84.

Ramirez said he had reason to believe that his wife was having an affair with Nardi and he suspected that she was inside his hotel room. When Ramirez opened the door to the motel room, he found his wife inside.

According to police, the two men started to fight and that's when Ramirez allegedly stabbed Nardi as he tried to run down the hall to get away. Ramirez caught up to him and then stabbed him again, according to police.

Nardi tried a second time to run away but Ramirez caught up to him and allegedly stabbed him for a third time. Police said Ramirez then ran to his car and left the hotel.

Witnesses who called the police were able to give a good description of Nardi and his car. Arriving officers spotted it and took Ramirez into custody.

Nardi was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition. Monday night, Nardi died.

Ramirez was originally charged with attempted premeditated murder, resisting an officer without violence, and cocaine possession. Ft. Lauderdale detectives are now working with the Broward State Attorney's Office to have the attempted premeditated murder charge upgraded to premeditated murder.
