Man Arrested For Allegedly Robbing Cab Driver

OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) – Police have arrested the thief they believe held up a cab driver at knifepoint back in December.

Police arrested Aaron Williams, 29, on January 1st for allegedly robbing Bonanfant Aurelien, a Broward cab driver, on December 21 at the Oakland Park Flea Market, according to Broward Sheriff's Office.

According to BSO, Aurelien, 42, picked up the suspect a little after 7 a.m. on December 21 at the Flea Market. BSO said things turned dangerous almost immediately.

BSO investigators said the suspect pulled a knife and said, "I need money. If you don't give me money, I'm going to start cutting things."

Aurelien ran from the car as the person attempted to stab him. The transgendered robber then allegedly stabbed the cab's seats, surveillance camera, and credit card machine. The robber then grabbed the driver's backpack and ran from the scene.

The entire incident was captured on the taxi's surveillance camera.

Williams, who has a criminal history for petit theft and probation violation, was charged with robbery with a weapon, grand theft and criminal mischief.
