FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Speed does appear to be a factor in a Christmas day accident in Coral Springs in which two men were killed, according to police.

Just before 5:30 a.m., Coral Springs police received calls about the deadly crash in the 11900 block of Lake View Drive.

Arriving officers found a 1995 Eagle Talon wrapped around a large tree.

Investigators said the vehicle appeared to have been traveling eastbound on Lakeview Drive when it lost control around a curve, left the roadway and struck the tree.

The driver, 22-year old Jonathan Clarke of Coral Springs, and his passenger, 22-year old Travis Mark Wilson of Lauderhill, were pronounced dead on scene.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
