Mom Charged With Neglect In Child's Death Gives Birth Again

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Charged with neglect in the death of one of her children, Brittney Sierra has given birth again.

The Department of Children and Families confirms Sierra gave birth to her fourth child but would not reveal any other details.

In late September, charges against Sierra were reduced and Judge Matthew Destry ordered that she could be released on her own recognizance in order to give birth outside of jail, but must reside with a distant family friend who had agreed to house Sierra until she stood trial.

Sierra is accused of child neglect in the disappearance of her 5-month old son, Dontrell Melvin.

He went unseen for 18 months until his bones were found last January buried in the backyard of her former Hallandale Beach home.

Sierra has pointed the finger at the baby's father, Calvin Melvin, who remains in jail on charges of child neglect resulting in bodily harm and lying to police.

Melvin has blamed her for Dontrell's disappearance.

Sierra has been in custody since January. She was freed for one day last week but failed to meet the conditions of her release and was back behind bars within 24 hours.

It was said that after the new baby was born, the infant would be placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families and that Sierra would be allowed supervised visits.

Sierra's two other surviving children are also in DCF custody.
