Police Seek Female Carjacker Who Crashed & Dashed

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami police are searching for a female carjacker who stole a car from another woman before crashing near the front of a home.

According to police, the incident started in the parking lot of a Sedano's Supermarket when the female suspect told the driver that she had a flat tire.

When the victim got out of her car to look at her tire, the carjacker jumped in the vehicle and drove off.

Police said the carjacker was involved in a couple of small crashes before finally crashing into the front of a home in the 2800 block of SW 2nd Street.

She abandoned the damaged car and ran away. She has not been found.

Eladia Vila and her husband have lived in the home for several years and said the crash was not the first one to happen there, but it was the most bizarre.

"Every day, every day nobody stops at the stop sign.  They think it's a Coca-Cola sign," said Vila.  "We are afraid every time.  I don't let my grandkids come to here because I'm afraid something happen.  This is no surprise for us."

Officers and Vila said it is surprising no one was hurt when the woman crashed.

If you have information, call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
