Report: Amendola May Miss Jets Game

BOSTON (CBSMiami) – Things may be going from bad to worse for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is "almost certain to miss the Jets game, source says."

NFL Network's Albert Breer added to the report saying that Amendola's groin injury is still being evaluated and they haven't determined the severity.

Amendola missed practice Tuesday morning's practice and the Patriots are scheduled to play this Thursday against the Jets. Amendola played through the pain last Sunday and finished the game with 10 catches for 104 yards.

The Patriots also lost running back Shane Vareen who broke his wrist over the weekend.

The Patriots let Wes Welker leave for Denver in the offseason and replaced him with the injury-prone Amendola. But, if Amendola is out it could further hamper the Patriots offense which has a distinct lack of playmakers this year.

All of it opens the door for a team like the Miami Dolphins to play well and possibly overtake the Patriots in the AFC East.
