Lauderdale Bouncer Charged In Viral Video Brawl
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A bouncer caught on cell phone video slamming a patron to the ground in a brawl outside of a Ft. Lauderdale beach bar has been arrested.
Arnald Thomas-Darrah, 30, has been charged with felony battery.
The video, which went viral on YouTube and other social media, was shot on July 28th outside the Dirty Blondes Bar at 229 S Ft. Lauderdale Beach Boulevard.
Alexander Coelho was with a group of friends when they were asked to leave by Thomas-Darrah and a group of other bouncers. Coelho and his friends walked outside and asked to speak to the manager. The bouncers asked them to move on.
The video begins with a Jovan Ralfhel Dean picking up one of Coelho's friends, identified as 28-year old David Parker, and then slamming him to the ground, according to Thomas-Darrah's complaint affidavit.
Next Thomas-Darrah punched Coelho in the face and knocked him to the ground, according to the report. He then reportedly kicked Coelho in the back of the head.
Coelho got up, clutching his head and ran off as a bouncer yelled after him "Have a good day, go home."
When officers arrived both of the men, Coelho and Parker came back ready to fight, according to the police. They were told to calm down and explain what had happened. They didn't and were charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
On Saturday, Coelho filed a police report concerning the incident and Thomas-Darrah was arrested at his Oakland Park residence.
A second bouncer who took part in the brawl, 35-year old Jovan Ralfhel Dean, will be charged with misdemeanor battery.
