Hollywood Robbery Suspects Caught After Crashing Car

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Three men were arrested Saturday after Hollywood Police said they robbed a jewelry store and then crashed their getaway car.

27-year-old Mark McPherson, 22-year-old Travass Quinn and 17-year-old Malcolm Jones were arrested for armed robbery and grand theft.

According to police, two of the men robbed Renee's Golden Touch at 6501 Taft Street in Hollywood and fled with the third person who was waiting in a car.

Someone in the store at the time of the robbery reportedly followed the trio.

Somehow police say the three suspects ended up in an accident at 94th Avenue and Johnson Street in Pembroke Pines. The person following them was not involved.

When the car would not restart, police say the suspects got out and ran. Witnesses said police immediately set up a perimeter and began to search.

"A lot of cop cars, K9 dogs searching and guys carrying big guns...A lot of chaos with the police," said Bryan Pindea who saw one of the men arrested in front of his home.

"He was on the ground lying on his back and cops came and handcuffed him," said Pineda.

No injuries were reported and the jewelry was recovered.
