Jackson Memorial Garage Re-Opened After Standoff
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami and Miami-Dade police temporarily shut down a parking garage at Jackson Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning after a woman in a car threatened to kill herself.
A police negotiator was brought in to talk with the woman whose car was parked on the eighth floor of the garage at 901 NW 17th Street. The garage is one of four on the hospital campus.
Police said the woman was armed with a gun. As a precautionary measure a Miami-Dade SWAT team and Miami police surrounded the garage.
Just before 8 a.m., police were able to get the woman to put down the gun. She was then taken into custody.
The garage was then re-opened to the public.
