Rep. Wilson To Join Trayvon Martin's Brother For 'Stand Your Ground' Discussion

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Congresswoman Frederica Wilson plans to meet with members of the Dream Defenders and state lawmakers to discuss the 'stand your ground' law.

A press release issued Sunday night said she will join Jahvaris Fulton, the brother of Trayvon Martin, for the meeting at 11:00 a.m. at her office in Miami Gardens.

No other details about what would be discussed were released.

Spurred by the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed Miami teen Trayvon Martin, the Dream Defenders have demanded changes in the state law.

The law allows someone to use deadly force if they believe their life is in danger.

Governor Rick Scott has said he still supports the state's self-defense laws.

The group's online petition demanding changes at MoveOn.org continues to receive signatures.
