Boy Struck After Getting Ice Cream From Truck

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – A nine-year old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a car after getting ice cream from an ice cream truck.

Witnesses said the boy was crossing Flagler Street near 64th Street when a driver going around the truck struck him, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

He was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, no word on his condition.

Police looking into whether speed played a role, but added the driver stayed at the crash site and cooperated in the investigation. They're also looking into whether the boy may have run out into the street and the driver did not have time to stop.
