Roadways And Runways Dealing With Wet Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – Heavy rainfall on Miami Beach forced drivers to take it slowly and drenched the set-up for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013, Wednesday morning.

Collins Avenue had deep water on it, so deep, it rose over car wheels.

"I'm going to need dry cleaning now," said Sergio Levi as he walked to work barefoot  with his belongings in a plastic bag.

Danielle Langevin works for IMG Fashion and wanted to get a dry start to her part of swim week, but instead dealt with the deluge of heavy rain.

"And I can't believe the flooding, I'm going to have to wade through the water get across," she said to CBS4's Natalia Zea Wednesday morning.

"Rain or shine as they say, the shows will go on."

From the runways to the driveways, long-time homeowners were upset their streets flooded again.

'It's a whole mess, and it's a shame, it's Miami Beach, it shouldn't be," said David Alfonso.

On top of the flooded streets, trash bins, set outside for trash day, were toppled and their contents strewn about yards.

For Jon Carson, it's a chore he had hoped wouldn't spoil his Wednesday, "When it all dries, we have to pick it up."
