Miss Florida USA Is Crowned

MIAMI (AP) — A Fort Lauderdale woman was crowned as Miss Florida USA on Saturday.

Twenty-four year old Brittany Oldehoff took the top prize in the competition and will go on to compete in the Miss USA national competition.

The pageant focuses on interviews and physical fitness featuring evening gowns and swimsuits. It is open to females between the ages of 18 to 26 and who are U.S. citizens or residents of the state of Florida for at least six months.

A press release says this year's pageant featured a record number of contestants with 71 beauty queens competing for the title.
