"Under The Dome" Premieres Monday Night

CBSMiami (Miami) – One of the most anticipated shows of the summer premieres Monday night right here on CBS4.

"Under the Dome" is based on Stephen King's best-selling novel and the TV adaptation is produced by King and Steven Spielberg.

Set in the near future, the resident of Chester's Mill – a small town in Maine – suddenly find themselves cut off from the rest of the world, trapped inside an invisible force field.

Two of the central characters are "Big Jim" Rennie, a local politician, and Julia Shumway, the editor of the local newspaper.

Rachel LeFevere, who plays Shumway, said the dome is a real test for the people of the town.

"You think you know who you are. You hope you're the person, who in a plane crash, would run into the fire to pull out other people so they can be saved," said LeFevere. "But you might be the person who runs for cover to save yourself and you really don't know who you are until you are tested."

Reality sets in when the dome comes down and Chester's Mill begins to tear itself apart. Actor Dean Norris, who plays "Big Jim," said it have viewers on the edge of their seats.

"When the dome comes down, you start to see the seedy under belly of this small town which seems so quaint and angelic," said Norris, "But when they get underneath it, when you see underneath it, you see its got a lot of crazy stuff going on and at the same time there's a science fiction element."

"Under the Dome" premieres Monday night at 10 p.m. followed by the CBS4 News at 11 p.m.
