Heat Fans Can't Wait For Parade Of Champions

MIAMI (CBS4) – Some Miami Heat fans plan on playing hooky from work on Monday so they can be at the team's Parade of Champions.

On Saturday, some went to the AmericanAirlines Arena to snap pictures and get as close to the glory as possible.

"We just wanted to come down and get the vibe, you know," said Tom Wilson.

Ian Somintac said he'll have a view of Monday's celebrations from his office. Like last year, he plans to skip some work to party.

"Just seeing LeBron and Wade and Bosh just coming at you, waving, you just want to go out there and touch them, you try your best to. I tried but I can't jump as tall as LeBron so I couldn't reach him," said Somintac.

"We wouldn't miss it. It's just another chance for people to be out and celebrate and be part of the celebration," said Jessica Owens.

The parade starts at 11am at the corner of SW 8th Street & 2nd Avenue, it then moves east on 8th Street, then north on Brickell Avenue across the bridge and north on Biscayne Boulevard into the AmericanAirlines Arena via NE 8th Street.

Roads along the route will close at 8 a.m. and reopen at around 12:30 p.m. after the parade passes through.

The private rally will happen inside the arena for ticket holders only. This year no backpacks are allowed.

"It's an extra precautionary measure that we are taking. Those people that are planning on bringing backpacks you are going to be turned away," said Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes.
