Police-Involved Shooting Leaves Man In Critical Condition

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade Police have released few details of a late night police-involved shooting Monday.

According to MDPD, detectives with the Robbery Intervention Detail unit pulled over a vehicle that matched the description of a car that was listed in a "be on the look-out" on police radio. The car, a white Nissan Maxima, was believed to have been used in a robbery.

MDPD said the vehicle didn't initially stop and a short chase ensued. Police said the driver then got out of his car on the 5800 block of NW 15th Avenue and then there was a "confrontation and shots were fired."

Two police officers were on scene during the shooting and the alleged suspect was hit and taken to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Police said they also found a firearm at the scene of the shooting.

Police said neither officer was injured during the shooting.
