Investigation Underway Into Mysterious Death Of Miami Infant

MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami-Dade Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a nearly one year old child. Police say they're questioning family members.

Investigators surrounded the home at 1071 SW 150 place in West Miami-Dade Thursday afternoon. Police aren't saying how the child died, just that he was unresponsive and pronounced dead at Kendall Regional Medical Center.

Late in the afternoon, a detective escorted a woman from the home into an unmarked car then drove her away. She was not in handcuffs.

As more police filled the street, neighbors looked on.

"It's a shame it's always when a parent loses a kid. I don't know the circumstances or anything but it's really hard. It goes against nature," Carlos Galvizu said.

In this case, police say they are questioning family members about the child's death.

Relatives of the child who died tell us that the parents are Catalina Bruno and Amos Osceola.

According to court documents, Bruno has a prior charge of child neglect without harm and DUI accompanied by a minor.

Late Thursday night, a car was towed from the driveway of the home.

A relative says the baby boy who died would have turned one year old later this month.
