Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Briefcase On Flagler St.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami bomb squad has been keeping busy Thursday. Around 10:00 a.m., the squad was sent to investigate a suspicious package found on a sidewalk.

The package, which appeared to be a briefcase, was located next to a bus stop at 911 West Flagler Street.

Bomb squad officials suited up in protective gear in order to get a closer look at the briefcase.

A few moments later, they safely detonated the briefcase and blew it to pieces.

No word on what was inside.

Earlier Thursday morning, Concourse D at Miami International Airport was shutdown when a passenger with a grenade-shaped cigarette lighter went through security. The passenger was not charged.
