Police: $16K Ring Possible Motive In Deaths Of Hallandale Snowbirds

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) – When Canadian snowbirds David Pichosky and Rochelle Wise were found dead in a Hallandale beach condo in January, police were stumped as to why they were asphyxiated. They now have a strong theory.

"It's not our only theory – but it's definitely our leading theory – is that it's robbery," said Hallandale Beach Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy.

"It looks like Rochelle Wise's $16,000 wedding ring may be playing a key role. It's missing," Flournoy clarified.

Police said they've checked everywhere for the 2.5-carat diamond ring.

"Family does not know where it is. [Rochelle] is known to always wear it and the fact that it turns up missing is a concern to us," said HBPD Captain Sonia Quinones.

The platinum ring, a size 6.5, has five 0.5-carat diamonds in a half-moon shape. It also has a special mechanism that allows it to open and close over the knuckle.

Police also want to identify a woman seen in surveillance video. She was seen near the Wises' condo the day before their bodies were found.
