Police Arrest Teen For Allegedly Shooting Bicyclist

SOUTH MIAMI(CBS4) - CBS4 has learned South Miami Police have arrested a 14-year-old youngster who allegedly shot another man while he was on his bicycle.

That shooting lead to a strange scene at a South Miami post office Monday morning when the man walked with blood dripping from a bullet wound.

Miami Police Major Rene Landa told CBS4's Peter D'Oench that the teenager turned himself in South Miami Police and they are trying to determine if he is tied to any other shootings or crimes in the area.

The teen was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police said.

"Identifying this person was the result of some good police work," said Landa.

The victim reportedly told police he was walking with his girlfriend to the MetroRail station at SW 70th Street and 59th Place when he got into an argument with a guy on a bicycle a few blocks away.

On his way back from the station, the man again ran into the 14-year-old youngster on the bike. They argued until the teen on the bike pulled a gun and shot the other man in the shoulder.

The wounded man walked about a half block away to the post office and asked for help in the lobby.

Police say the victim is going to be fine.
