Pompano Mayor Wins In Landslide, Other Races Too Close To Call

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Pompano Beach Mayor Lamar Fisher, who has been on the job for more than a decade, isn't going anywhere.

On Tuesday, voters re-elected him in a landslide over David Baumwald.

Pompano Beach was just one of nine cities to hold municipal elections of Tuesday.

In Deerfield Beach, the race between Mayor Peggy Noland and former Mayor Jean Robb was just too close to call. Noland has a slim lead with just 27 votes. The county's elections department will do a recount before a winner can be declared.

Another race will require is a recount is the one for former Sunrise commissioner Sheila Alu's seat. Seven candidates are vying for the job with the front-runners, Neil Kerch and Jim Tabeek, separated by only eight votes.
