Broward Sheriff Detective Arrested For Possession Of Oxycodone
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Broward Sheriff's detective lands a big drug bust, but this time he is the one that ends up in the slammer.
Detective John Brindle, 45, was arrested Friday night for possession of oxycodone pills without a prescription.
Broward detectives said that the investigation began after they received a tip about Brindle, who was allegedly obtaining the pills at an Oakland Park home.
He reportedly used intimidation and his position with the agency to obtain the pills, said the Sheriff's Office.
Detectives conducted surveillance of Brindle's location and he was pulled over near I-95 and Commercial Blvd in a black Ford Taurus.
When Brindle was searched, eight pills were found in his pants pocket according to the arrest report.
Brindle served as a detective for the City of Pompano Beach for seven years.
He is currently suspended with pay pending prosecution by the State Attorney's Office.
