Street Closures This Weekend For ING Marathon

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Runners from across South Florida and elsewhere are loading up on carbs ahead of this weekend's ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon.

The race course begins at AmericanAirlines Arena and travels through Miami Beach, Downtown Miami, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables before returning downtown for a finish at Bayfront Park.

Approximately 25 thousand runners/walkers are expected to participate in the eighth annual event, which takes place Sunday, January 27th.

Saturday starting at approximately 9 a.m. drivers traveling north on Biscayne Blvd. will be directed into the southbound lanes which will cause traffic delays. All vehicles will be able to get to all businesses and residences within the affected areas.

Saturday night starting at approximately 10 p.m. no northbound traffic will be allowed over the Brickell Bridge from SE 7th Street. All traffic on Brickell Avenue traveling north towards the Brickell Bridge will be directed west on SE 7th Street. Miami police will only allow local traffic to the Epic, One Miami, Miami Cener and Inter-Continental Hotel.  Guests and employees of the JW Marriot will be able to get to it northbound via the Brickell Bridge.

Hard street closures will take place Sunday morning at 5 a.m. with the marathon scheduled to start at 6:15 a.m.
