MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A stop at a Miami hot dog stand ended with a man rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The man and his wife had stopped at the stand in the 1900 block of NW 21st Street to catch a quick bite to eat. While they were ordering they were approached by to males who tried to steal the woman’s purse, according to Miami Police spokesman Detective Willie Moreno.

The man came to his wife’s defense and struggled with the purse snatchers. One of the males pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg. They then ripped the purse from the woman’s grasp and took off in what was described only as a beige colored vehicle.

The man was taken to JMH where he was listed in good condition.
