Man Charged In Deadly Miami Restaurant Fight

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man suspected of throwing a deadly punch at a Miami restaurant been taken into custody.

Sagy Shachar, 30, is charged with second degree murder. He's currently being held without bond but has a bond hearing on Friday.

According to Shachar's arrest report, it all began when Patrick Prevatte, 40, got into an argument with Benjamin Geffon at the Taverna Opa restaurant, located 900 S. Miami Avenue. just after midnight on November 1st.

The conversation quickly escalated, according to police, and Prevatte and Geffon got into a shoving match. That's when Shachar reportedly got into the middle of it and punched Prevatte which caused him to fall to the ground where he hit his head.

Prevatte was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
